カルチュラル・スタディーズ・英米文学

My doctoral work at University College London was a study of British, Irish, and North American modernist writing in the first half of the twentieth century, with a particular focus on the “invention of Japan” in the work of Ezra Pound and W. B. Yeats. I continue to work primarily in the field of cultural and literary history, most commonly on the relation of Japan with European and American modernism. In recent years I have presented papers at conferences and symposia in Japan, China, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Morocco, and Canada, published on Ezra Pound’s Japanese interests and related subjects, and served as a reviewer on related subjects for Oxford University Press, Routledge, Temple University Press, PMLA, Review of English Studies, Irish Studies Review, and The International Journal of Travel and Travel Writing. I am currently working on a book on the concept of intertextuality and the genealogy of modernist European mediations of Japanese noh theatre. At TWCU along with regular English courses I teach courses in Cultural Studies, Literary and Cultural Theory, and Literary Criticism.
