Dr. Kimberly Klassen has taught English as a foreign language in Korea, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, and now Japan. She completed her doctorate in Applied Linguistics (lexical studies) at Cardiff University, Wales, UK.Recent publications have appeared in Reading Psychology, The Curriculum Journal and The Reading Matrix. Her essay on proper name theory and implications for second language reading was awarded the Christopher Brumfit Essay Prize in 2020 by Language Teaching journal and Cambridge University Press. She has been an invited speaker on topics related to proper names, vocabulary learning and second language reading for the Japan Association for Language Teaching (Tokyo and Nagano chapters),Swansea University (UK), and the International Council of Onomastic Sciences.
